Police have identified two people killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Bridgeville’s Heritage Shores development on Thursday.

Peter Colletti, 71, was found shot dead in the family room of a home in the 100 block of Emilys Pintail Drive, and his 58-year-old brother-in-law, Joseph Caldarera, was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the same home.

Delaware State Police said Caldarera lived upstairs in the home owned by Colletti and his wife. The Collettis had returned to their home at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday and the woman was in the first floor bathroom when she heard footsteps on the second floor, then a loud bang. When she came out, she found her husband shot in the family room. She ran to a neighbor’s house and police were called.

Officers found Colletti’s body with what they called an apparent gunshot wound, then found Caldarera’s body upstairs in his bedroom with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
