About me
I’ve worked in journalism for almost a decade around the Delmarva Peninsula, getting to do a little bit of everything: Editing, reporting, proofreading, web production, social media, newsletters, photography and more.
Much of that time was spent at daily newspapers including the Star Democrat in Easton, Maryland; the Daily Times of Salisbury, Maryland; and the News Journal in Wilmington, Delaware. I also launched and ran the Delaware Independent, a news site focused on southern Delaware, from 2021-2022.
If you need a veteran writer who can deliver a wide variety of pieces, from in-depth stories on complex issues to lighthearted features, interviews and more, drop me a line. I can write about pretty much any topic.
I also am available to edit fiction and nonfiction, with a keen eye for structure, grammar and style. If you have writing that needs a boost or just a second read, let me help make it better.
Note on my personal AI policy: I don’t use it for writing. I use AI to transcribe audio from interviews, and absolutely love not having to do my own transcription — thanks, technology! But I write my own outlines, rough drafts, and final drafts. I’m just not interested in outsourcing that to a machine. The process of writing from outline to final product is what gives it unique flavor, and for better or worse, I want that flavor to come from me, the writer.
Very short bio
Born and raised in southern Delaware, I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s in journalism and a minor in Spanish. I lived in Ohio for a number of years and got married there, then my wife and I moved back East to be closer to family. We now live in Sussex County, Delaware with four children, two dogs and two cats, on an acre of ground that is running out of spots to plant new trees.
